Using Value Stream Mapping in a Low-Volume Environment

Value stream mapping, although it is not a complete flow analysis, is a graphic tool that uses symbols to show the flow of material and information within your business. In a manufacturing environment you choose a key product (a runner) or key part number to map; in complicated processes, you might start with following only a subassembly or component that has significant costs.
