Here’s a great way to repurpose your old beater

deck into a swing that’s tons of fun and just

looks cool. I saw one at a beach campground

near Santa Barbara, California, and immediately

decided to make one for my kids. They sell new

for $50 to $100 but you can quickly make your

own for a few bucks’ worth of rope!

1. DRILL

Put a hole in each corner of the deck just where it

starts to bend up for the nose and tail, 1" from the

outside edge. Then drill a hole through each end

of the dowels, 1" from the edge as well. (Keep the

dowel holes aligned as best you can.)

2. KNOT

Cut two ropes to size, then poke each end down
