When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 2. Curiosity
Makers are curious.
They are explorers. They pursue projects that they personally find interesting.
When I was a child, I had an annoying habit of asking “why?” incessantly. It got so bad that once, at the end of a week-long camp, while the other kids were given titles like “best athlete” and “fastest swimmer” I was bestowed the name “Little Miss Why.” In retrospect, I don’t think it was meant as a compliment. As a parent, I’ll admit that I’ve occasionally gotten exasperated when my daughters ask me that same question countless times in a row. I’ve even resorted to the unsatisfactory answer “Because!”
Based on what I’ve learned of other makers’ childhoods, I definitely wasn’t alone in my inquiry-based approach to life. Perhaps ...
