This chapter describes the comonomers used with olefin monomers to form copolymers with desirable functional properties for flexible packages. A particular group of comonomers, called alpha-olefins, containing four or more carbon atoms are used in special polymerization processes to produce linear polyethylene or polypropylene copolymers. Informed used of various copolymers can improve seal strength, durability, and heat resistance of packages.
