I have an Adobe Illustrator file called seaweed.ai open in Illustrator. A program like Illustrator is where SVG's can be created or drawn from scratch. Creating SVG's in Illustrator is far out of scope for this book, but I want to start here just to show where an SVG's could come from.
In Illustrator CC 2017, one of the best ways to save an AI file down to SVG for web is by using the File > Export > Export for Screens... option.
This option uses the artboard name as the name of the file, so before we export as an SVG, let's rename the artboard by going to Window > Artboards. Let's rename from artboard1 to seaweed, as shown in the following screenshot:
Now, by going to the File > Export > Export for Screens... ...
