Chapter 21: Financial Worksheet Functions

The financial industry was the first industry to adopt spreadsheets as the go-to tool for making financial calculations and building financial models. The spreadsheet’s ability to allow users to create models with variable formula inputs was perfect for many types of financial models—and especially for cash flow analysis models. In fact, back in 1979, in the first version of the original spreadsheet, VisiCalc, the NPV financial function (NPV = net present value) was 1 of the 21 original built-in functions, and it was the only financial function.
