Throughout this book, you will use these key ideas when creating Excel solutions:

Create effective and efficient solutions: Whereas effectiveness refers to the correct result, efficiency refers to minimizing the time to build, refresh, and update a solution. To be effective, a solution must be able to get the correct answer from a calculation, get a correctly formed dataset from the raw data, or get an appropriate report with accurate answers. An efficient solution gets the correct result with the fewest resources (such as time to build the solution, time for the app to make a calculation or refresh the data, and time to alter the solution in the future when the situation changes).
