It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

The InfoPath 2003 Software Development Kit can be used to demonstrate and test XML Web service functionality.
To use the SDK Web service, sample virtual directories must be configured correctly on Internet Information Services (IIS). InfoPath SDK provides a utility to configure IIS appropriately.
SQL Server must be installed and running, and authentication must allow both Windows authentication and SQL Server authentication for the Web service form templates to run correctly.
InfoPath 2003 fails to connect to XML Web services if Internet Explorer thinks it is working offline. This can cause very puzzling failures of connection from InfoPath 2003 to XML Web services.
