So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Chapter 3 introduced databases as a collection of objects such as tables, views, and stored procedures and discussed decisions that someone creating a new SQL Server database would have to make. This chapter covers some special databases, such as the SQL Server system databases, as well as database snapshots and the concept of contained databases. The system databases master, model, msdb, tempdb, and the resource database are installed on every instance of SQL Server, and this chapter explains the purpose of each.
