The interpolation=configparser.ExtendedInterpolation() argument provided to the ConfigParser object also enables an interpolation mode that allows us to refer to values from other sections into the configuration file.
This is convenient to avoid having to repeat the same values over and over, for example, when providing multiple paths that should all start from the same root:
[paths]
root = /tmp/test01
images = ${root}/images
sounds = ${root}/sounds
Also, the syntax allows us to refer to options in other sections:
[main]
root = /tmp/test01
[paths]
images = ${main:root}/images
sounds = ${main:root}/sounds
