STRUCTURE AND OPERATION
Canon and Hewlett-Packard were granted many patents for inkjet printers and related technology during the 1980s and early 1990s. On April 26, 1988, Ichiro Endo and four associates of Canon were granted U.S. Patent #4,740,796 for a “Bubble Jet Recording Method and apparatus in which a heating element generates bubbles in multiple liquid flow paths to project droplets.” However, Canon did not bring to market a fax machine with an inkjet printer until July 1992. Hewlett-Packard introduced such a machine in June 1991. Matsushita introduced a Panasonic inkjet fax model in August 1991. Since then at least 40 models of fax machines with inkjet printers have been introduced by several manufacturers. ...
