The overall operating process of LED printers is very similar to that of laser printers, except for the manner in which the OPC drum is lighted. In LED printers stationary arrays of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) provide the light source (Figure 6.1), in contrast with the laser scanner used in laser beam printers. The LEDs are arranged in a straight line on a bar called a printhead. The number of LEDs determines the dot resolution of the printer.
