Static modeling of heterogeneous objects

Abstract

Different from typical CAD modeling, the modeling of heterogeneous objects (HEOs) has material type and its distribution as the new design variables. The core of HEOs modeling is combining the geometric structure together with the material design to realize a special function of the object that is not possible with a single material. Using a standard file format and interface to 3D printing devices, the final static models can be directly used for digital manufacturing.
