Songs have been a big part of the movie-making process ever since the beginning of “talkies,” with Al Jolson singing “My Mammy” in The Jazz Singer (1927)—a prime example of an on-camera featured song in a movie. Songs have always been an important part of entertainment, and their attraction, interest, and “pull” for an audience mean a unique connection has been forged between songs and movies.
