To tell you the truth, I have long hesitated to write a book as I have always felt that most of what I would say has been said or, as is the case for many CEOs, would be seen as an ill-conceived attempt to rewrite one’s own history. That never appealed to me. However, Adi Ignatius, the editor in chief of Harvard Business Review, convinced me of the importance of sharing Unilever’s and my own transformational story with a broader audience, as well as thoughts on where we need to go. The prospect of writing it with Andrew Winston made me finally decide to go ahead.
