3章Linux
この章では、読者の皆さんがLinuxの基礎を習得することを目的としています。Linuxはネットワーク分野でも一般的に使われるようになっており、本書にもLinuxについての章を含めることにしました。このUnixライクなOSは、ネットワーク自動化やプログラマビリティとどのような関係を持っているのでしょうか。
3.1 ネットワーク自動化とLinuxの関係
ネットワーク自動化の観点でLinuxを見てみると、いくつかLinuxの重要なポイントが明らかになってきます。
まず1点目として、近年のNOS（Network Operating System）の中にはLinuxベースのものがあります。一見するとLinuxのようには見えない独自CLI（Command-Line Interface）が提供されていることもありますが、Linuxマシンとして内部システムにアクセスできたり、bashなどのシェルが利用できたりするNOSも存在します。
次に2点目として、新興企業や新しい組織がネットワーク装置向けのLinuxディストリビューションを提供し始めていることです。OCP（Open Compute Project）は近年Linuxが動作するNOSを作成するためのベースとしてONL（Open Network Linux）を選定しました。ONL上に構築されたLinuxベースのNOSの例としては、Big Switchが提供するSwitch Lightがあります。Cumulus Networksもまた、NOSとしてDebianベースのCumulus Linuxを、対応するハードウェアプラットフォーム向けに提供しています。これらの流れはネットワークエンジニアにとって、ネットワークの設定変更のためにはLinuxを習熟していなければならないという状況が生まれつつあることを示しています。 ...
