7章ネットワークAPI
本書ではここまでにPythonをはじめ、データフォーマットやJinjaテンプレートなど、ネットワークエンジニアが自動化のステージに進むために重要となる基本的な技術やスキルについて紹介してきました。この章では、これらのスキルをより実践的なものにするために、ネットワーク装置のAPIの利用について学んでいきます。
ネットワーク自動化を始める方法を理解できるように、この章は3つの節から構成されています。
- ネットワークAPIを理解する
- 各種APIのアーキテクチャーや基礎知識を学びます。HTTPベースのRESTful API、HTTPベースの非RESTful API、NETCONFなどを紹介します。
- ネットワークAPIを利用する
- 各種APIのテストや学習によく使われるツールを紹介します。
- ネットワークAPIを使って自動化する
- ネットワーク自動化の手始めとして利用できるさまざまなPythonライブラリについて紹介します。HTTPベースのAPIを利用するのに便利なrequestsライブラリや、NETCONFネットワーク装置との通信に利用できるncclient、SSHを使ってネットワーク装置を自動化するnetmikoなどについて取り上げます。
この章は特定のAPIを網羅的にガイドするものではなく、またAPIドキュメントでもありません。APIの実装はネットワーク装置ベンダーごとに異なるため、ここではそれぞれのベンダーのAPIを利用した例を扱います。一般的にネットワークエンジニアにとってはマルチベンダー環境での作業が必要になる可能性はとても高いため、本書での解説が役立つことになるでしょう。それぞれのベンダー実装の共通点を知ることや、もしくは独自に実装されている点について知ることは非常に重要なことです。 ...
