Installing FlowScan and CUFlow

FlowScan was originally written to work with the obsolete cflowd collector. If you install FlowScan from an operating system package, the package will probably want to install cflowd and its obsolete compiler libraries, as well as other clutter as dependencies. Other times, the operating system providers have edited the FlowScan software to make the most common use case easier but more unusual uses much more difficult. For these reasons, I recommend installing FlowScan by hand. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Download FlowScan from its author's website at http://net.doit.wisc.edu/~plonka/FlowScan/.

  2. Download a copy of version 1.6 or newer of the FlowScan Perl module from http://net.doit.wisc.edu/~plonka/list/flowscan/archive/att-0848/01-FlowScan.pm ...
