The latest Linux and Unix distributions all include support for Windows file-sharing (SMB) protocols, so sharing files with computers using other operating systems (or other Linux/Unix distributions) should be easy. The terminology is not always the same, but if you understand the underlying principles involved in network file sharing, you shouldn't have any trouble working with a mixed network.
