Oracle provides built-in PL/SQL packages to enhance, speed up, maintain, or debug your Web-based applications. A “built-in” package is one that is written for you and compiled into the Oracle database. These are powerful packages that can be used to support and enhance iAS applications. They accomplish specific tasks for you and are easy to use. A familiarity with them will help you do some things you can’t do without them, and keeps you from writing code that is already written for you.
