2.2. SQL Statement Syntax

This section provides a detailed reference to each of the SQL statements used to create and maintain database objects. Each statement is listed in at least one of its forms, with a short explanation of the statement's purposes, its exact syntax and associated parameters, an example, and usage notes when applicable.

Many of these statements are normally used only for administration of a database and are typically issued by a DBA. For this reason, many statements require specific privileges. Some statements also apply only when specific Oracle options, such as the Partition Option or the Object Option, are installed.
