Many components of SQL syntax are used in multiple SQL statements. These components, often referred to as SQL clauses, can be somewhat complex themselves. To simplify the presentation of SQL syntax in Chapter 2 and Chapter 3, I have collected these common elements here. In the earlier chapters, I simply referenced their names and syntactical positions in the individual SQL syntax descriptions.
