Chapter 2. Finding Your Way Around Business Contact Manager

In This Chapter

  • Examining BCM's initial windows, toolbars, and menus

  • Choosing what you want to see first

  • Adjusting the Navigation pane

  • Understanding contacts and accounts

In this chapter, we give you a bit of a Business Contact Manager (BCM) tour. We start with the basic, vanilla, out-of-the-box BCM components. Then, we show you the various ways that you can view BCM. Because BCM's middle name is "Contact," we discuss contacts and then show you how they're different from accounts.

Taking a Look at BCM

You use BCM only in conjunction with Outlook. Therefore, it stands to reason that the two products are pretty well enmeshed with one another. Although you find some features only in BCM, with a little customization, it might be impossible to tell where Outlook stops and BCM begins.

Figure 2-1 shows the basic Outlook with Business Contact Manager window. Remember: Your window might look different than Figure 2-1 if you've customized it already.
