In this chapter, we show you how to schedule activities with your contacts and how to view those activities and modify them. You find out how to link — and unlink — your activities to other important parts of BCM, including your accounts and business contacts. We also show you how to transform an existing Outlook activity into a more functional BCM appointment.

Scheduling an Appointment with Exsisting Records

One of the most useful features of BCM is its ability to tie an appointment to a record. More basic calendaring programs allow you to view your appointments on your calendar, but they don't offer a way of cross-referencing an appointment to a contact. For example, if you schedule an appointment with a contact and forget when that appointment is, you have to flip through your calendar until you see your contact's name. Plus, you can't easily see a list of all appointments that you've ever scheduled with that contact. But BCM offers these helpful features.

In BCM, every activity is scheduled with a specific record. You can schedule activities with the following record types:

  • Account

  • Business contact

  • Business project

  • Opportunity
