Why It's Worth a Photograph

The South Street Seaport at Fulton and South streets in lower Manhattan features some of the city's oldest architecture, historical ships, shopping, and vibrant street life. This photogenic neighborhood is just south of the Brooklyn Bridge and adjacent to the Financial District on the southern tip of the island. The streets are filled with people eating, shopping, and enjoying performances day and night throughout most of the year.

The indoor mall on Pier 17 contains both shops and galleries. Restaurants overlook the docks where you can visit a number of historic vessels, such as the 377-foot-long barque, the Peking. This location offers fantastic views of the Brooklyn Bridge from numerous locations around the seaport. You can also hop on a water taxi and take a quick ride over to the Fulton Ferry Landing near the Brooklyn Heights Promenade. The South Street Seaport is a dense photographic landscape for you to explore with your lens.
