You just got hired as part of a crack team to build the web’s next-generation learning platform. We’re going to tackle it in a way that you’re probably not accustomed to—with autonomous microservices. You’ve probably heard something about microservices before, but what we do here is likely going to feel very, ah, different.
So we’re going to start with the fundamentals. What are the downsides to how we’ve always built things, and why would we want to change? Having answered that, we get into the basic pieces of what makes a system microservices based.
