Making Use of Monoliths
I have certainly been a critic of monolithic architectures in this book, but that doesn’t mean that they are without value. That kind of architecture is a special-purpose tool. I can’t imagine a faster tool for prototyping than an MVC ORM web framework.
But if you follow American football, you may be aware of a play called the fake punt. A team lines up as if it were going to punt the ball to the other team, but instead attempts an actual play to score a touchdown or some such (go sports!).
