Act I Intermission

Right about now, your brain is likely exploding with new information. It's possible you've never put in this much effort to prepare your data presentation content before even cracking open PowerPoint.

Trust me, this is a good thing. You're now ready to move on to the phase that most presenters start with.

Now, you know I love a good recap, so here's how to remember the flow of steps in the Conceptualize phase:

• Determine the focal point of the presentation.
• Identify the needs and desires of your audience.
• Establish the overarching message with a clear throughline.
• Support the message with evidence and narrative arc in your story.
• Identify the action your audience should take and how to execute.
• Flesh out your Boxes outline with your content and insights.
• Brainstorm your content onto sticky notes (your “slide-eas”).
• Organize and edit the notes into the Boxes outline.
• Digitize your “slide-eas” into a minimalist Google Slides or PowerPoint deck.
