The Animation Producer

What is an Animation Producer?

Attempting to define what an animation producer does has been our biggest challenge in writing this book. We discovered that for every rule we created, there were several exceptions. As a result, we decided to use the Producer’s Guild of America’s definition of the producer as a starting place. It is as follows:

A producer initiates, coordinates, supervises and controls, either on his or her own authority (entrepreneur producer) or subject to the authority of an employer (employee producer), all aspects of the motion-picture and or/television production process, creative, financial, technological and administrative, throughout all phases from inception to completion, including coordination ...
