DUHRING’S RULE (BOILING POINT ELEVATION)
Generally, the vapor pressure of an aqueous solution is less than pure water at
the same temperature. Therefore, for a given pressure, the boiling point of the
solution is higher than water. The increase in the boiling point over that of water
is known as the Boiling Point Elevation (BPE) of the solution.
