OPTIMIZATION
There are two areas in chemical engineering where optimization may be
applied. These areas involve solving problems dealing with process design
and plant operation. Optimization requires selecting the best option among
different solutions. By optimizing the process design, the result will be maximum
production and profit, while minimizing cost and energy usage. Using the
Simplex Method Program (Program Listing 2.8) calculations involving these two
areas become feasible and convenient.
