The traditional project management methodology presented in Part 2 is a highly defined, proven approach developed over the last 50 years. Based on practitioner experience, this project management methodology evolved from project management concepts and principles first established in the 1960s. These concepts and principles were eventually codified by the Project Management Institute in its 1987 publication, The Project Management Body of Knowledge, which was followed in 1996 by A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), now in its fourth edition.1
