It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
19章 Raspberry Pi PicoとPico WRaspberry Pi Pico and Pico W
通常のRaspberry Piは、ネットワーク接続やグラフィカルユーザーインターフェイス（GUI）を必要とするプロジェクトに最適だ。しかし、消費電力やアナログ入力の有無という点では、Arduino（https://www.arduino.cc）やRaspberry Pi Picoなどの、よりシンプルなマイクロコントローラーのほうが勝っている。
Raspberry Pi Picoは、通常のRaspberry Piとはいくつかの点で大きく異なっている。
- キーボードやマウス、表示画面とのインターフェイスを持たない。
- 2MBのプログラム保存用のフラッシュメモリー（マイクロSDカードスロットはない）と264KBのRAMと、記憶容量が比較的小さい。
- プロセッサーの速度は133MHzと、Raspberry Pi 4の1.2GHzと比較してかなり低い。
- オペレーティングシステムを持たない。実質的にはMicroPythonがオペレーティングシステムの役割をし、Pythonコマンドラインから制御する。
こんな、例えばRaspberry Pi Zeroと比べても明らかに非力なボードに、どんな使い道があるのかと不思議に思う人もいるかもしれない。
実際には、Raspberry Pi Pico［図19-1］はRaspberry Pi Zeroよりも低価格なだけでなく、Raspberry Pi 4よりもさまざまな外部電子回路とインターフェイスできるという点では優れているのだ。いくつか例を挙げてみよう。
