Adjusted R2 The R2 adjusted downward to take into account the number of independent variables included in a regression model. It can be used for comparing the goodness of fit of two regression models when they have the same dependent variable, but a different number of independent variables. (See R2.)
Alternative hypothesis Used in hypothesis testing, this hypothesis is offered as an alternative case to the “null” hypothesis, which is typically the focus of a hypothesis test. (See Null hypothesis.)
