4章Rの記法
トランプのデッキが手に入ったら、それをトランプらしく操作する方法が必要になります。まず、デッキは繰り返しシャッフルすることになるはずです。そして、デッキからカードをディール（配布）したいところでしょう（一度に一枚ずつ、一番上にあるカードからです。ズルをしようとは思っていません）。
こういったことをするためには、データフレームの中の個別の値を操作できなければなりません。これは、データサイエンスの基本作業です。たとえば、デッキの一番上のカードを配るには、次のようにデータフレームの第1行目の値を選択する関数を書く必要があります。

Rオブジェクトに含まれる値は、Rの記法を駆使すれば選択できます。
4.1 値の選択
Rは、Rオブジェクトから値を抽出できる記法を持っています。データフレームから値、または値のグループを抽出するには、次のようにデータフレーム名を書いた直後に角カッコを続けます。
deck[ , ]
角カッコの間には、カンマで区切られた2つの添字を入れます。添字はRに対してどの値を返すべきかを指示します。Rは、第1の添字を使ってデータフレームの行の一部を選び、第2の添字を使って列の一部を選びます。
添字の書き方にも選択肢があります。Rで添字を指定するための記法は6種類あり、それぞれ少しずつ異なります。どれも非常に単純で手軽なので、1つずつ紹介します。添字は、次のもので指定できます。
- 正の整数
- 負の整数
- ゼロ
- スペース
- 論理値
- 名前
