Most gizmos are designed to solve a single problem. The food processor slices, grates, or chops food, but it doesn’t play music (though I’m sure John Cage would argue that point). The lawn mower is good at cutting the grass but terrible at telling time. And if you have a tuba, it can play music, but it’s a poor substitute for a hair dryer. That’s all well and good because people accept limitations on devices designed with a specific purpose.
