So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Transformations
Transformations creates a new RDD from an existing RDD by applying transformation logic to each of the elements in the existing RDD. Some of the transformation functions involve splitting the element, filtering out elements, and performing calculations of some sort. Several transformations can be performed in a sequence. However, no execution takes place during the planning.
Transformations can be divided into four categories, as follows.
