FAUX FINISH TECHNIQUES AND MATERIALS
This chapter addresses techniques of scenic painting used to create specific and/or generally realistic appearances. Many of the techniques discussed here are multimedium, so called because of the use of combinations of transparent layers over opaque or changes in solvent bases to achieve specific effects. Though many of these techniques are centuries old, most are relatively new to scenic artistry because of the changes in scenic design aesthetics and audience expectations.
