Fingerprinting web application technology stacks

Fingerprinting a web application is when you try to identify the technology that is being used to serve a web application. Fingerprinting can be done at several levels. At a lower level, HTTP headers can give clues to what operating system, such as Windows or Linux, and what web server, such as Apache or nginx, is running. The headers may also give information about the programming language or framework being used at the application level.
