Link building is one of the main pillars of SEO. Technical and semantic elements are important for the life and health of the site itself, but the external environment of the site also counts to make it efficient and gain visibility on the Web.
The objective of link-building strategies can be explained by this definition that we often give to our customers:
“The idea is to collect as many external links as possible, and of high quality, on reference sites and media. It is the latter that constitutes all the popularity of the website (nearly 50%). It is necessary to collect as many as possible, in order to start to rank the site well based on interesting keywords, thanks to the relevant external text anchors”.
As per our experience, there are ten points to check to see if external links are of good quality:
- – the PageRank of the page (Google no longer updates this index but still uses it, as do other search engines such as Baidu);
- – domain names that point to the site;
- – the domain authority;
- – trust flow (trust site index, the existing index for Google, Baidu and Yandex, for example);
- – links in textual contexts (and not present in footers, menus, etc.);
- – the number of outgoing links from the external site (having a certain number of them can dilute its link strength);
- – the relevance of the domain names to which the site is linked;
- – the keywords of the text anchors;
- – the co-citations;
- – the preference for “dofollow” links, not “nofollow” (the dofollow ...
