Function termination

The advantage of the Cloud Functions is that you don't need to procure any servers on your own, so you just need to pay charges for the duration that your Cloud Function runs. This also gives you a responsibility that you terminate your function properly and don't keep your function running in an infinite loop, otherwise it will incur extra charges in your bill.

To terminate your function and manage its life cycle properly, you can follow these recommended approaches:

  1. Resolve asynchronous processing functions by returning a JavaScript promise
  2. End HTTP functions with res.redirect(), res.send(), or res.end()
  3. End a synchronous function with a return; statement
