In this chapter, you set up a virtual machine using VirtualBox. You’ll use this machine as your playground in the rest of the book, but you can use VirtualBox to install other operating systems so you can test applications or websites on multiple platforms, experiment with new features, and work without fear of wrecking your actual work machine.
In the next chapter, you’ll navigate around your filesystem on the command line instead of a graphical file manager.
