Appendix 2Installing GNU Utilities on macOS
macOS systems are based on BSD, rather than on GNU/Linux like RedHat, Debian, and Ubuntu. As a result, a lot of the command-line tools that ship with macOS aren’t 100 percent compatible with the ones you’ve learned about in this book. If you are interested in leveraging what you learned in this book and you don’t want to keep track of the differences, follow the steps in this appendix to install the GNU versions on your Mac.
