Oracle

Oracle is the leading commercial DBMS. It supports hideously large databases and numbers of transactions. It runs on many operating systems and hardware platforms and is so complex that a skilled database administrator must run and maintain it.

You can learn about Oracle products at www.oracle.com. The Personal Edition of Oracle is less intimidating than the Enterprise Edition. You can download a free single-user, development-only version at the Oracle Technology Network Web site (otn.oracle.com). The download file is enormous; you may order a CD Pack instead for around $40 (U.S.).
