Abstract:

This chapter describes an environmentally safe and emerging surface technology for aluminium alloys commonly known as plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO). Although anodising is commonly used on aluminium alloys, there are recent issues related to both environmental legislation and the need for more durable, multi-functional surface characteristics.
