Across sectors and countries, I have heard a version of the same sentence repeated in different forms ‘We don’t feel HR is the champion of us as people.’
In one of my recent live sessions, I asked a simple question: How do you think HR primarily sees its role? Across 118 responses, 47 per cent said HR primarily protects the organization, 43 per cent believed it balances both organization and employee fairly, 2 per cent said it protects employees, and 8 per cent were unsure (see Figure 1.1).
