It takes a larger village than I ever imagined possible to publish a book, so I have plenty of people to thank, and the first without doubt is Jim Artman. We worked together for more than a decade across two companies, where he was the resident Batch scripting expert long before me. Not only did I learn most of what I know about bat files from him, but most of the coding standards and conventions that I’ve shamelessly passed off as mine were originally his. Without his mentoring, this book would not exist.
