I introduced environment variables in Chapter 2 with the set command, and they have found their way onto nearly every page since. You can define and resolve a simple variable and then maybe reset and use it again in various ways. Pseudo-environment variables are similar but also quite distinct. You can resolve them just like regular environment variables, but their origins or how they are set are substantially different.
