Chapter 7

Overview of pmBLOX

Introduction

Chapters 1 through 6 addressed the theory and algorithms defining the Dynamic Progress Method (DPM). We now turn our attention to putting the DPM to work using project management software called pmBLOX®. A trial version of pmBLOX is available as a free download on http://www.pmblox.com. Additional tutorials and videos are also available at the website.

By the end of this chapter, the reader will be able to

  • Navigate the main views within pmBLOX
  • Create a new project plan in pmBLOX
  • Populate a task with resources defining a project plan
  • Configure tasks and resources applying DPM principles
  • Understand the differences between CPM- and DPM-based planning methods
