Environmental and practical factors affecting cocoa production
Abstract:
The movement of production from South America and the Caribbean to Africa and the increase of production in Asia are covered, together with the main factors promoting the farming of cocoa, with decisions influenced by both governmental and other agencies as well as the effects of the environment. The costs of setting up and maintaining cocoa farms, and those of labour and inputs are discussed, as are the issues surrounding coerced labour.
